API Credentials Validator
This validator checks your Octopus Energy API credentials. All the checks are performed on your system by communicating with Octopus Energy directly. Therefore, you do not need to worry about your privacy or sharing confidential information. Once checked, the validator reports any potential issues. In case there are issues actions to resolve the problem are proposed.

Your API key does not have the correct format. The API key should start with sk_live_ followed by a long series of letters and numbers.
The validator verifies that the API key is accepted.
Your API key is accepted.
Your API key is not accepted by Octopus Energy. Verify that you created an API key on the Octopus Energy dashboard, that the API key is the currently active API key as shown on the dashboard, and that you copied it in its entirety. If you have trouble creating an API key then get in touch with Octopus Energy through email or send a personal message on Twitter.
The validator verifies that the MPAN has the correct format.
Your MPAN has the correct format.
Your MPAN does not have the correct format. The MPAN should consist of 13 digits.
The validator verifies that the MPAN is accepted.
Your MPAN is accepted.
Your GSP is not associated with your MPAN. This can happen when you switched to Octopus Energy. Please get in touch with Octopus Energy and request them to associate your GSP information with your MPAN. You can do so by emailing Octopus Energy.
The validator verifies that the meter serial number has the correct format — this requires a verified API key and MPAN.
Your serial number has the correct format.
Your serial number does not have the correct format. The serial number of 10 characters, one of which is a letter. In rare cases a serial number can have a different format. Neverteless, it must always be 6 or more characters.

Your meter serial number could not be verified. This is quite normal if you only recently switched to Octopus Energy. Access to your consumption data is needed to verify your serial number. It can take up to several weeks for consumption data to become available. If you get this error and you have been with Octopus Energy for a while, then please get in touch with them through email.
